Julian Rosefeldt. Manifesto
Manifesto is a 13-channel film installation written, produced and directed by Julian Rosefeldt. The work features Cate Blanchett in multiple roles performing various artist manifestos and it premiered at ACMI in December 2015.
The identity for Manifesto was designed to be a system of two contrasting parts. The imagery of Cate Blanchett was treated as high art. Glossy. Full colour. Free from text. High quality reproductions. In contrast, the text components took their cues from the visual language of artist manifestos. One colour print. Strong, direct typography. Paper reproduction. Traditional exhibition messaging was kept to minimum with only the exhibition hashtag appearing with each manifesto quote.
To further play on the idea of the artist manifesto as something challenging and disruptive we installed the billboards advertising the show in 3 stages. Initially image only, over time the billboards were plastered in bill posters, with the artist name and title of the show only appearing the day of the exhibition opening.
